Backyard barbecues, patio libations, beach days… however you spell summer leisure, Toronto has it on offer! With the weather turning hot, hot, HOT - sending us scrambling for ways to beat the heat – remember to enjoy these humid, languid days; soon enough it will be back to school, back to work and back to routine!

Speaking of heat, the Toronto real estate market has been sizzling this summer! This is due, in part, to the erratic winter climate that delayed Sellers from getting their homes prepared in time for Spring, as well as the ongoing lack of supply that is at odds with enthusiastic Buyer demand.

If the weather remains hot and humid into September, we may see the Autumn market get off to a slow start, but anticipate market momentum to ramp up in the last quarter of the year. Meanwhile, stay cool Toronto!

Toronto Real Estate, Yellowbelt Zoning & The Missing Middle: Part One

There is merit in repurposing yellowbelt neighbourhood by rethinking the existing zoning. Right now, yellowbelt land throughout Toronto is zoned for single-family housing (with secondary suites providing their front door doesn't face the street - weird, I know) which is being sold to high-earning professionals, foreign buyers, and purchasers with significant down payments (often from the Bank of Mom and Dad). Rezoning and repurposing this land to accommodate small low-rise dwellings in a scale that is in keeping with the urban fabric of these neighbourhoods could create more affordable homes for lower and middle-income families. Welcome to our 'fun in the sun' list of the best beaches in the original City of Toronto! In a city whose neighbourhoods and amenities are in a constant state of flux, how fortunate are we denizens to see our waterfront - dominated over the past 150 years as a centre for our industrial port economy - be reclaimed to include beaches for refuge and recreation. Sure, the entire downtown core's waterfront as we know it is man-made, given the shoreline was originally on The Esplanade, but despite this, I really like how the City has made efforts to create man-made sandy sanctuaries, along with our existing beaches, that give us the opportunity to connect with the water.
