One of the best parts about the impending arrival of spring are the subtleties: the light lingers just a little bit longer, you can shed some of your heavier clothing, and you can pack your shovel away (though not quite yet!) Before you know it, the slushy, wet transformation is complete. Spring is the season of hope and shifting energy, made even more meaningful by the length and severity of this winter we’ve had. Homewatch News: How to Determine The Laneway Suite Potential Of Your Toronto Property

In the summer of last year, the City of Toronto began allowing Laneway Housing, albeit in a confined area (thus far). Approved in June 2018, it took a few months for the city to post by-laws as they pertain to this new housing type, which the real estate industry, property owners, and potential developers/end users are now assessing. As a realtor working in the original City of Toronto for 26 years (including all of the city's geographic boundaries for laneway housing), I can assure you the interest is enormous. We're happy to say that our 'Gleaming On Glebemount' listing ticked all of the requisite boxes and then some.

Dear Urbaneer: Is It Time For Us To Climb The Property Ladder?

The madness of the property market in Toronto over the past decade has, among other things, changed the shape and direction of the traditional property ladder. With rising prices, a lack of available stock, along with demographic pressure (i.e. Baby Boomers not vacating their homes at the same rate as first-timers are trying to get a foothold in the market), we’ve collectively had to rethink the progression of property ownership. That said, even with this shift (and depending on your individual situation), now may be the ideal time to make your play up the ladder in a more traditional climb. Additionally, there are certain criteria that all potential property ladder climbers should determine before they make their move up.
