Welcoming A Spring In Our Step!

Spring, this year, has been a bit like a frustrating party guest: an integral part of the experience, always met with a collective cheer when they cross the threshold, but at times agonizingly late. Lately spring was a bit of flirt, trying to satiate our need to turn the seasons with memories of warmth, sunlight and greenery, rather than the actual thing. While our calendars suggested that we could shed our winter skin, the thermometer countered with chill. Happily, calendars and thermometers have synced, and Spring has made its entrance! Happy Spring!

When the federal government took the initiative to cool the market by setting new lending criteria in July 2012, and investors began to flee out of fear of a price correction, prices did roll back in the condominium market, but not for freehold housing. In fact, through the autumn, we witnessed prices decline to 2009 values in the condominium market, but this was distinctly at odds with the market stability for downtown freehold houses.
