Late News At The ROM
August 12, 2010

On Wednesday I attended the Royal Ontario Museum's showcase exhibit - The Warrior Emperor and China's Terracotta Army - which runs until January 2, 2011. It was an amazing history lesson - well worth navigating the crowds - but what really tickled me pink was the fourth floor show organized by the Institute for Contemporary Culture called 'Dan Perjovschi: Late News'.
Dan Perjovschi, a 49-year-old Romanian cartoonist and graffiti writer, uses a thick black marker to create spontaneous social political commentaries on blank white walls. Messages referencing the G8 - G20, Canada's reliance on natural resources, our city's cultural diversity and the local real estate market, amongst others, are scrawled across the gallery walls providing an insightful commentary on modern life locally, in Canada and across the Globe. I thought it sensational!
