A Typical Day For The Housing Obsessed

Call Me Bonkers

August 11, 2010

If you're new to my blog, one of the first things you should know is I am bonkers about Housing, which is probably a good thing given I'm a Realtor. On a typical day my housing obsession begins within moments of waking where, over a pot to tea, I excitedly surf the Multiple Listing Service online for new listings that may be perfect for my Buyers or competition for my Sellers. During breakfast I usually read The Globe and Mail, amongst others, and synthesize how the world of finance and politics may be influencing the property economy. And whilst grunting and groaning under the tutelage of my amazing fitness trainers, I will incessantly wax on the dynamics of the local market.

And then it's mid day.

Over lunch I'm likely reading one of this month's Shelter Magazines (I love Elle Decor) to gauge the media's take on trends and styles, and then I'm invariably on the road navigating traffic playing my own real estate version of 'The Price Is Right'.

Speaking of which, I grew up watching The Price is Right in the 1970s - here's a charming vintage clip featuring such trend-setting items like TV Time Popcorn, a Teledyne Colour TV, Game Room Furniture that is "A Complete Party Ensemble" and a 1972 Chevrolet Vega that cost a squeak over $2000!

After negotiating an offer or listing a property, come evening you might catch me adoring Sarah Richardson and her unerring eye for spectacular colour coordination on Sarah's House, or rivetted to Mike Holmes as he breeds despair (and then relief) on ill-informed homeowners while uncovering (and repairing) structural travesties on Holmes Inspection . I love HGTV. I call it House Porn for the housing obsessed. Like me.

As then the day comes to an end and I drift off to sleep where I dream about - what else - Dream Homes!

Is that bonkers?
